America's 250th
America’s 250th is an invitation to every Floridian to celebrate the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding. The City of Coral Gables was also part of this celebration and created its own version of the America’s 250th logo.
My work for the City of Coral Gables’ America’s 250th celebration was to create the overall visual assets for the campaign. The goal was to refine what was already working and develop a visual identity that communicated both the spirit of Coral Gables and the American spirit, while creating a system that showed how Coral Gables is part of this historic national celebration in its own unique way.

A brand isn’t just a logo;
it is an entire identity.
It is the combination of elements that work together to create consistency, connection, and a lasting unity across the brand.
The America’s 250th logo itself does not create the complete brand identity. Instead, it provides the foundational elements needed to build a cohesive camopaign, including its colors, forms, and typography.
For the City of Coral Gables campaign, I used these elements as the foundation of the brand, focusing particularly on the star and the curved forms from the original identity. I expanded and adapted these elements to create a consistent visual language that could be applied throughout the campaign, while maintaining a clear connection to the America’s 250th celebration.

Selected typography that expresses the spirit of America’s 250th and created dynamic text treatments throughout the campaign pieces.
One of the main pieces of the project was creating a passport for the Passport Office, featuring elements that are part of American history, such as the bald eagle, the Rosette Monument, and other iconic symbols.
The main idea behind the passport was to introduce kids to a little bit of American history through these elements, while also showing how the City of Coral Gables is part of that history.

Applying the same thinking to color by building a palette that maintains the American concept while creating consistency across the campaign and its pieces.
Part of the campaign was to build a visual system in which all the pieces express the American spirit while maintaining a consistent connection with the America’s 250th identity.
This system was applied across different pieces, including the Commission paper using the curved forms from the logo, the flag incorporating the campaign colors and logo, the digital invitation for the 4th of July celebration, and the live City Commission shows, where I created the lower thirds and recommendation graphics for the important people speaking during the Semiquincentennial celebration.
